Merkilegt !

   Merkilegt að lesa þetta. Var   snillingurinn Chopin  ef til vill einhverfur með snilldargáfu (savant) á  sviði tónsmíða? Hjá honum fylgdu flogaveikiköstum ofsjónir af ýmsu tagi.  Er að lesa bókina Born on a Blue Day eftir  Daniel  Tammet , einhverfan talna- og  tungumálasnilling, sem   komst í fréttir hér fyrir nokkrum árum   fyrir að læra íslensku á  viku eða  tíu dögum. Hann  talar ein tíu tungumál.

  Daniel Tammet  var haldinn flogaveiki  í æsku. Hann  sér  tölur og bókstafi með allt öðrum hætti en   aðrir og hefur undraverða reiknihæfileika, -  deilir  til dæmis 97  í 13 og fær  útkomu með næstum hundrað  aukastöfum á  svipstundu. Kvikmyndin The  Rainman með Dustin Hoffmann er öllum ógleymanleg,sem hana sáu.

   Í bókinni segir  hann á bls.  38 : „My childhood seizures  originated in the left temporal globe, and some researchers suggest that one  explanation for  savant abilities is left-brain injury leading to right-brain compensation. This is because the skills most commonly seen in savants, including numbers and calculation, are associated with the right hemisphere.

    However it is not  easy  tyo determine whether the  epilepsy is a cause or a symptom of the left-brain and it is possible that my seizures in childhood  came about as a consequence of preexisting   damage in the brain, probably there from birth".

 Í frétt BBC,sem frásögn Morgunblaðins byggist á og vísað er til segir:

„The most likely explanation for Chopin's visions, say the Spanish doctors, is a type of epilepsy called temporal lobe epilepsy.

With seizures of this kind it is common to experience strange visions and intense emotions, such as those described by Chopin."

 Þetta er merkilegt. Bók  Tammets Born on a Blue Day er hreint ótrúleg lesning.
